Nave of the Chapel of Sant Miguel y Sant Pere de la Seu d’Urgell.
We are doing research on the next phase of the project, Spanish Romanesque churches and are overwhelmed by the numbers in northern and central Spain. We are looking at shooting in Cantabria and Asturias to capture the pre-Romanesque and early Romanesque churches there. The shot of Sant Miguel y Sant Pere de la Seu d’Urgell in Lérida is just whetting our appetite.
This is a wonderful series–Spanish Romanesque is so under-published. Thanks for sharing. I hope to cover some of these in my medieval course next fall.
Thanks, Janet. We are so looking forward to Asturias and all of the very early churches there. It will probably be two years until we go there (we have a trip to Burgundy/Auvergne this year, Normandy/Poitou-Charente next year). Who knows, though, we may not have the patience to wait. We were lucky enough to shoot in Lérida and Girona already. Time to move towards Santiago de Compostella.
