A Feast of Conques (Dennis Aubrey)

The pilgrimage church of Conques is nestled in a small village in the hills of Aveyron. We’ve shot there before, but this time our two days revealed the church in all of its spectacular glory. So this is just a photographic post – four early evening shots that give a sense of the scale and grandeur of the Basilique Sainte Foy.

    • Thanks, Kaitlin. We have been at Sainte Foy for the festival of the patron saint. There was a nightime wonderful procession and then a mass with Gregorian chants. Very powerful stuff. Appreciate your kind words.

    • Michelle, the church at Conques is always spectacular, but on the evening that we took these shots, the church was completely empty and the light was particularly inviting. We had thought to finish for the day but Sainte Foy would not let us go. Thanks for your comments.
